We are delighted to witness the artistic journey of our artist, Alexandre Kyungu Mwilambwe, continue to flourish. He is now showcasing his powerful installation, Pumuzi ni kitumahini kwa mahisha ya kesho – Breath; the only hope for tomorrow, at the Stellenbosch Triennale in South Africa.
This installation masterfully weaves together themes of migration, identity, and resilience through the use of unconventional materials such as rubber inner tubes, wooden crates, and worn doors. By integrating scarification symbols that speak to cultural heritage and historical wounds, Alexandre creates a profound narrative that reflects the struggles and hopes of those undertaking perilous migratory journeys.
We are proud to see his work resonate on such an important international platform, where it continues to provoke thought and inspire dialogue on pressing global issues.
