Reimagining The Last Supper

1 October - 30 November 2025 Venezia
We are excited to announce that we are working on a new group show, Reimagining The Last Supper, scheduled to open in October 2025.
The exhibition invites visitors to explore a contemporary reinterpretation of one of art history’s most iconic works, Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper. It will feature the creative perspectives of 13 contemporary African artists, each offering a unique approach to this timeless masterpiece.
We beleive that The Last Supper is far more than a biblical narrative; it serves as a mirror for universal human experiences. Themes such as loyalty and betrayal, sacrifice and redemption, communion and division resonate across cultures, beliefs, and time. In this exhibition, we invite visitors to engage with these timeless ideas through the lens of contemporary thought. The artists involved have been encouraged not to create faithful reproductions of the original work but to use it as a point of departure, exploring how these themes manifest in modern contexts. What does betrayal look like in today’s world? How is communion redefined in an increasingly fragmented, digitalized society? How can art capture the emotional nuances of connection, separation, and forgiveness in our present age?
Reimagining The Last Supper offers a dynamic space where artistic freedom reigns, allowing the participating artists to push boundaries and experiment with different mediums and forms. Whether their approach is symbolic, abstract, narrative, or conceptual, each work will reflect the artist’s unique perspective while resonating with the deeper themes that have made The Last Supper a timeless masterpiece of universal storytelling.
Stay tuned for more details to be announced!
