The painting depicts a scene of intimacy which is allegorical of the things that happen in private when people of influence overturn justice unfairly to be in favor of them. In many places, it is true that those with wealth and influence somehow find their way around the justice system and in this painting, a man who represents a person of influence is having his way with lady justice, who has tossed her sword aside and placed the her scale on the desk after receiving the content of the suitcase. The painting references 1551 oil painting by Jacopo Tintoretto about Venus, Mars and Vulcano.
