"Murky waters series, shot at the shore of Lake Magadi, Kenya in 2019. Women empowerment is improving but still leaving women fighting for equality, the oppression on women religiously, socially, and politically is so ingrained in society that even now, forms of it appears simply to be the natural order of things. As an attempt to examine the challenges that women face in society by illustrating the positions we are forced into, and the situations that different groups of women find themselves in. We are taught over and over from childhood that the only way to stay safe is to remain within fixed boundaries. On this basis, young women prioritize starting a family over self-development. I have witnessed then how many are then stuck in an abusive unhappy and abusive marriages and the high rate at which girls have to drop out of school because of this harmful environment. Institutions such as religion are also used as tools of oppression and means of spreading miseducation."
