AKKA Project is honoured to be once more invited to participate in (Un)Fair, an art fair dedicated to millennials and young collectors, thank you also for the precious partnership with Whitley Neill.
The exhibition project conceived for (Un)Fair 2023 is curated by Lidija Kostic Khachatourian, founder of AKKA Project, and co-curated by Collin Sekajugo, internationally recognized Ugandan artist, as well as the founder of Masaka Gallery in Uganda.
Together we are presenting the works by Florence Nanteza, a young Ugandan artist, mentored by Collin Sekajugo.
Florence is part of the new generation of Ugandan artists. In 2020 she joined the Masaka-based creative community, which has given her the platform, freedom and confidence to explore new avenues for self-expression and creativity. Florence has incredible knowledge in the field of traditional herbal medicine, which nourishes her art practice. This approach has influenced the materiality and technicality of her experiments with collages and flowery objects that can be witnessed in all her artwork.
The collaboration between AKKA Project and Masaka Gallery is natural as united by the common goal of supporting and promoting contemporary artists from the African Continent.
